Replace derived Psbt serde implementation with one that conforms to
BIP-174. In human readable serde contexts, serialize to the base64
encoded format, and in binary serde contexts, serialize to the raw
binary format.
The previous derived serde implementation cannot be used in a backward or
forward compatible way in binary formats like bincode, which means that
every field added to the Psbt struct would break serde de/serialization
into binary formats. Instead, this one-time breaking change will fix the
issue going forward.
Downstream users with persisted data in the old serde format should continue
using 0.32.x to create migrations to the new format.
Fixed malformed markdown links in bitcoin/CHANGELOG.md that were causing errors.
Specifically, removed double parentheses from links to primitives and units
CHANGELOG.md files, ensuring proper rendering and accessibility of the documentation.
We release `v0.32.4` and `v0.32.5` already but forgot to merge the
changelog entries back into master.
Grab the missing changelog entries from the `0.32.x` release branch.
Needs release notes but there are 20 pages of them, that feels like too
many to go through manually.
Includes a missing changelog entry in `units` for an already released
change that is included in this `bitcoin` release.
When we create point releases we merge the release tracking PR directly
into the version branch, including the changelog entries. This means the
changes never end up on `master`. We need to make a mental note to
patch `master` anytime we merge a point release PR.
Audit all crates with a non-zero current point release and check we have
the changelog entries on `master`.
In preparation for dropping the first release candidate bump the version
and add a changelog.
Please not I went to much more effort that usual with the changelog,
open to review on the overall form - not promising I'll change it but
definitely would like to keep iterating and improving.
If this changelog is appreciated then FWIW I don't think we should
bother automating it, a machine does not have all the context required
to create it.
Currently `bitcoin` cannot be built with no features enabled, it must
have either "no-std" or "std" enabled. This is an artifact from when
we depended on `core2` for "no-std", now that we have our own `io` crate
and we unconditionally depend on it we can remove the "no-std" feature.
Rust version 1.56.0 introduced edition 2021. Shortly afterwards, on
October 21 2021 Rust version 1.56.1 was released.
Debian stable is currently shipping `rustc 1.63.0`.
Our stated MSRV policy is: In Debian stable and at least 2 years old.
Therefore our MSRV policy is met by Rust version 1.56.1 and we can strat
to bump our MSRV org wide.
Start by bumping the `rust-bitcoin` and `hashes` MSRV to Rust 1.56.1,
includes:
- Update docs.
- Update CI and remove pinning.
- Update the build files and remove now stale cfg attributes rust_v_1_x
for values less than the new MSRV.
- Use new `IntoIterator` for arrays so we no longer need to allocate a
vector to iterate.

During the last round of releases (bitcoin 0.30, hashes 0.12) we removed
the `FromHex` implementation from all types except vecs and arrays. We
added `FromStr` impls for types that roundtrip with `Display`.
We never added a changelog mention to either `bitcoin` or `hashes`, lets
retroactively add an entry.
Fix: #1747
Recently we added a workspace but left the CHANGELOG file at the
repository root, this is incorrect because the CHANGELOG is a per crate
thing since it is updated along with crate release.
